Atmospheres (ATMOS): What They Are and How They Are Grasped
What, then, are atmospheres?
If no one asks me, I know;
if I want to explain it to a questioner, I don’t know.
ATMOS’s aim is to explain what they are and how to individuate them, and to understand how they can be grasped and created, so as to find a new start in the extant debate concerning them.
“Atmospheres (ATMOS): What They Are and How They Are Grasped” is a two-year research project in philosophy of mind and aesthetics funded by the Italian Ministry for University, Education and Research (MUR) as a Progetto di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale (PRIN). ATMOS has been funded in the "linea giovani", where the Principal Investigator (PI) has to be under 40 years old.
The research is led by Elvira Di Bona (Turin) and carried out at the Universities of Turin, Genoa, Ca' Foscari Venice, and Vita-Salute San Raffaele (Milan). It involves local research teams, joint workshops and conferences, and is funded with a total amount of ca. € 230,000. The local Associated Investigators are Stefano Ercolino (Venice), Elisabetta Sacchi (San Raffaele), and Marcello Frixione (Genoa).
